My education has been an interdisciplinary one with a background in humanities and technology. The last three years I worked as a tutor and as an educator and I have experience in producing educational material and providing educational workshops and programmes to adults and youth. During my postgraduate studies at the University of Sussex I developed a keen interest in human-computer interaction and in particular learner-centered design. My MSc dissertation dealt with the educational application of the Computational Thinking view that was proposed by Jeannete M. Wing in 2007 who advocated a shift in the Computer Science educational infrastructure, so that computational thinking becomes a fundamental skill for everyone. My dissertation embraced theories of game-based learning and dealt with the conceptualisation and design of a game through which school children could understand basic computational thinking concepts. Extensive user testing sessions and prototyping iterations took place until a demo of the game was finally implemented in Processing.
