Hanan Hasson is a Shadow Participant of Deloris Saad. Hanan Hasson is an Arab-American, born in Yemen and raised in the United States. She graduated with a BS in International Relations with a minor in Studio Arts from California State University, Sacramento. During Hanan Hassons undergraduate career, she was heavily involved in community work and extracurricular activities, including but not limited to teaching, serving as president of student associations, and working for the University as a research assistant promoting civic engagement in the electoral process. Hanan also represented various international non-profit organizations based in the United States working on disaster relief. After graduating, she pursued her passion for international relations and civic engagement with an internship with the International Rescue Committee as an assistant caseworker working on refugee resettlement. She then took a full time position at IRC for twelve months as an AmeriCorps Intensive Case management Associate, continuing to assist in the resettlement of highly vulnerable refugees. She then decided to pursue graduate studies in Public Policy and International Affairs the American University of Beirut which was motivated both by a desire to study and live in the Middle East, as well a desire to experience firsthand the refugee crisis that was sweeping the region since the beginning of the Syrian war in 2011.
