Stelios Himonas is the Digital Champion for Cyprus and he also serves as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism.

Stelios is a strong supporter of Future Worlds Center and has placed under his auspices as Digital Champion several projects.

On June 17, 2015 he presented the Reinventing Democracy in the Digital Era in the Assembly of the Digital Champions of Europe and informed the DCs about his proposal for the group to support the project funded by the UN Democracy Fund. The involvement of the Digital Champions would be to declare their support as a group to this global project and its objectives and promote it in their Member States. The DCs are also asked to select participants from their country, for the European charter. If DCs are willing they are also welcome to finance one person by 1,000 Euro. The request has been documented in the agenda and the minutes [1]
