Mirjam Hasselhornis a Peer Empowerment and Support Mentors of the Reinventing Democracy project.

She is the peer mentor of Agnija Kazuša from the European Initiative and John Oyaro from the African Initiative.


Mirjam Hasselhorn is working at Agricultural and Rural Development Association (ARA) in Ghana as an Assistant Office Manager since September 2015.

Mirjam was born in Hannover, Germany, in 1988. She studied BA in Educational Science at Philipps-University, Marburg. She majored in international youth work; non-formal youth education and counseling. Afterwards, she obtained a MA degree in Peace, Mediation and Conflict Research at Åbo Akademi Unviersity in Vaasa, Finland, and graduated in 2015. Her thesis was on nonviolent action campaigns and non-formal youth education, exploring. Alongside her studies Mirjam worked for several NGOs as an educationist for Global Learning, Intercultural Learning and Peace Education. Since 2008, she is involved in conducting, leading and evaluating leisure time activities for teenagers during youth camps in Germany and other European countries.

During an internship in the PEACE program at Åbo Akademi University her task was to support the conduction of an academic conference, writing project proposals for the program and general office duties.

Currently, she is working in Ghana as an Office Assistant conducting, implementing, monitoring and evaluating community based developmental projects as well as supporting volunteers who work in the country.
