Darius Luhanga is a Shadow Participant of James Gondwe. James is one of the Core participants of the African Initiative. Darius is base Malawi, Africa. He completed his Bachelor of Social Work majoring in Community development at DMI St. John the Baptist University in 2015. He is currently working as a Project Officer for Ellie Baxter Foundation. He is a keen believer in democracy, and as a young man he views democracy as a guided purpose; the free and equal right for every person to participate in the system of government and other such structures that directly affect us. The phrase guided purpose comes in because as a youth himself, he believes young people have the whole world ahead of us, but we need a sense of direction to achieve greatness.

His favourite quote are the words of Jimmy Carter (1978) ~ In a democratic society I am free to try anything, achieve anything as long my process of achieving it does not violate anybody’s inherent rights. Carter propounded that democracy is like experiencing life itself – always changing, infinite in its variety, sometimes turbulent and all more valuable for having been tested for adversity. He is honored to live in a democratic society and his plea is for every young person to understand it.on to understand it.
