The term Co-Laboratory is the term we use to describe the structured dialogue sessions organized in the context of the project. The term Co-Laboratory or Co-Lab is preferred over the term workshop or seminar or another analogous term, because it highlights an important distinction:

The knowledge comes from the participants.

The actual events are referred to as Structured Democratic Dialogues and the process is sometimes referred to as Structured Democratic Dialogue Process (SDDP). When such dialogues are implemented with the purpose of designing ideal future worlds, the term Co-Laboratories of Democracy is also used, a term originally coined by systems scientist Aleco Christakis one of the fathers of the science behind the process, known as Science of Dialogic Design.

Future Worlds Center is a world-pionner and the and has organized more than 100 SDDPs<ref>http://www.futureworlds.eu/wiki/Chronological_List_of_SDDPs_by_Future_Worlds_Center_and_Associates hronological List of SDDPs by Future Worlds Center and Associates<.ref>
