Nicolina Karaolia joined Future Worlds Center in July 2015 as a Peer Empowerment and Support Mentors of the Reinventing Democracy project.


Nicolina has a BA in Education and a Masters in Human Rights and has worked as a teacher, trainer, project assistant, researcher and election observer in Cyprus and abroad. She has interned with the Cyprus Mission to the United Nations and the Fundamental Rights Agency of the European Union and has worked with the EU and the OSCE in election observation missions.

Currently, Nicolina is a volunteer Coordinator for the Cyprus Friendship Programme, a peacebuilding organization which works with youth aiming to build bridges of communication and friendship between teenagers from the Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities in Cyprus.

  • Enhancement of democratic participation and active citizenship for youth
  • Global Education curriculum development for primary and secondary education
  • The contribution of music in Intercultural Education
  • Election processes in developing countries

Nicolina has undertaken different short-term positions in Cyprus and abroad:

  • Education Coordinator- World Campus International -Japan [1]
  • Intern at the Fundamental Rights Agency of the European Union [2]
  • Substitute teacher in primary schools with the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus
  • Election Observer with EU and OSCE Election Observation Missions
  • Volunteer English Teacher- Save the Children for Development Cambodia (SCDC) [3]
  • Trainer for "Education for a Culture of Peace" project [4]
